As a man with average sanity and logic,  i always think that Japan is the land of wonder where some logic and sanity doesn’t exist. We all know how the japanese culture invade our life from the anime we wacth, the manga we read, the sushi we ate then up to the freaky Japanese Adult Video we use to jerk out and it become part of our daily life. some of those culture is acceptable in our sense and some just.....

4. The Impact of Manga And Anime is Breaking The Dimensional Line
 

Now you might be thinking that im goint to talk about Cosplay right? Peoples, who dressed to look like anime and manga character is surely showing how people very obsessed with anime and manga. Well you are wrong because despite the fact that they spent a lot of money to dress like the rejects of lady gaga fashion school, i still consider it as a form of art because It needs a lot of cost, make up, design skill and a great dedication to make some 2D looks from anime or manga into reality. I believe most of us could appreciate the cosplayer dedication to emulate their favorite character.

As i said, i could appreciate the cosplayer who try to look like some anime or manga character but what if there’s some peoples who dedicate way too much to look like anime character? Well, they become one indeed...

Its creepy because...

Imagine that you are going to work by taking a train to your office and found buch of anime character just sit next right to you. An anime character that looks and moves like human but with stale facial expression like a robotic mannequin, staring at you without blinking its eye and its fixated smile. You will think that the world has been taken by robot that designed by anime geek. Its Like the future from the movie terminator where robot has taken over the world but if Skynet were from japan. Fantasy isn't supposed to be a reality and Anime character isn't supposed to be real either. If you forced it to be real it will just be weird and creepy. 

And for some fun fact,  most of this costume out there is a female character. Most peoples, who dressed in this costume is male.

3. Japanese Ghost...Obviously
 

Wherever country you came from, Ghost is supposed to be scary but how japan define scary is even scarier than most of us do because their ghost would even make the Ghostbuster members  thinks to had an early retirement. As you may know, Sadako from ‘the ring’ is one most well known ghost from japan that made thousands peoples piss in their pants but what if there’s something more scarier than that?

Japanese myth is full of things that would made you glad you are lived in a place like Somalia because most of that myth usually had a moral story of  “Japan hates you and all who lives there”. As example, why dont we looks the legend of a female ghost that dragged her upper body across the japan looking for some good ol’ revenge.

This ghost is called teke-teke which some believes that she comes from a woman who had a suicide or fell in the path of an oncoming subway train and was severed in half. Now, since she wasn’t so happy about it, she roams through all of japan dragging her upper body with her long clawed hand  looking for someone to be sliced in a half so she can have some friends to chat about her issues with toilets. The legend also said that he can move and lunge into you in incredible speed. Oh the horror.

And if that wasn’t enough they also had a legend of kuchisake-ona or split mouth woman. The Kuchisake-Onna will appear as a tall woman in a trench-coat with long, black hair. Her most telling feature is the surgical mask covering the bottom half of her face.

According to legend, there’s two scenario that would likely to be happen when you meet her at your way home from school or work at night. usually she will come to you and ask a simple question: “am i beautiful?”

The first scenario, If your answer is “no”, because you are a cruel honest bastard, the problem will be solved because she will took out her ridiculously huge pairs of scissor and cut your head off with no hesitation. Now after knowing that, you think that you should be a gentle person who said “yes” so she would feel better and your head can stay in your neck as it should be. If that’s the case, she will took her mask off, showing her grotesquely over sized smile and asked one more question: ”am i still beautiful?”

            Now, if you are a very open minded person when it comes to beauty and said “yes”, she will chase you down and cut you in a half because she thinks you are lying but if you said “no”,well, she would still cut you in a half either because her heart is to fragile to accept such a harsh truth. Japan is a scary place with many things that just doesn’t add up to your brain and your sense. Ghost is a scary things because...well its ghost for Gods sake do i really need to explain? So, Japanese Ghost is...i think you get the formula of pure fear.

 2. When You Add Some Healthy Dose Of Insanity To Dating Game

For your information, dating game is very popular among Japanese which usually consist of you playing as a man trying to be “together” with your loved one and  by “together” here could also means banging your love interest in the strangest situation you could imagine. There’s a lot amount of dating game ranging from dating game for  the average sane logical person to dating game for Hanibal Lecter after he had another kidney for dinner.

As for the Hanibal Lecter dating game there’s one that quite popular in Japan called ‘school days’ which sounds and looks quite harmless at the first time.

Yep, it looks like your standard anime love story with bunch of cute girls in a school uniform that you can get on a date with. The story is about a boy named Makoto who involved in love triangle (with extra hentai content, of course) and its pretty much that for most of the time...

That my friendo, is one of the endings from this game where you date one girls but still seeing the other one (you may want to check the bloodbath yourself here). If, instead of cheating on the first girl, you actually break up with her to date the other one guilt-free, then the one you just dumped will jumped off from a bridge and lands headfirst on the cement right in front of you both. Even if you try to be a good man, the game just can’t let you have a non-bloody ending. The other girls isn’t better either because if you’ve been an asshole with the other girls, she will stab you in the back or pushing you into the oncoming train. One of the good endings is when the two girls agreed they will share the boy loves without rivalry or in a simpler word, a threesome with two female version of Hanibal Lecter. Its non-bloody ending but That still wasn’t a good ending either.

Like i said, this game is pretty popular in Japan despite all those bloodbath endings and peoples love it. I found it creepy because most anime love story is usually a funny, adorable and awkward love story. Seeing all this cute and pretty character having a bloodbath disturb me so much and this is supposed to be a dating game. This game is more like a horror game because even if you got the good endings it meant you are dating a time bomb that could explode anytime.

Dating game also leaves another impact to the player where There’s also quite a lot of guys who just get so attached to a game character, fall in love with it and in the extreme case, married with it, literally...

Yes, we as human always fighting for what we think is right, for what we think is justice, and for what we think is the truth. When a human truly believes in a truth, you can see the true quality of a tiny little human existence compared to the universe and how his/her faith can change the fabric of reality itself. The power of faith is real and it is a positive quality about human morale that rarely seen in this modern age. But still, I guess deeply in every human heart, everyone wants to save the world defending what is righteous while wearing cape and super thigh spandex like superman defending the earth with his underwear outside. But before you strapped that C4 to your body and planning to die with the others members of Al-Qaeda, maybe you should know that the things you believed as the truth might be not the truth.

Philosopher, scientist, spiritual teacher, myself and maybe yourself (if you are not too busy opening porn site right now) had seeks for the meanings for truth for centuries and nobody can perfectly say what is truth. Every single brain in this earth had a different definition about truth and how they feel it in this life is also different. Nobody had the same exact opinion about truth and reality.

So, to help you understand what truth is we should start by looking in the dictionary first. According to Merriam-Webster's Online Dictionary, truth is a state of being in accord with fact or reality. It can also mean having fidelity to an original or to a standard or ideal. In a common usage, it also means constancy or sincerity in action or character. As you can see, even in one dictionary there could be three meanings for truth so it might be better if we don’t speak about the meaning of truth in Japanese and Mandarin dictionary because I wouldn’t  want to burn my fingers to death typing all those meanings. In easy way, truth had a very strong bond with reality like a Siamese twin that glued with super glue. We can say something is a truth because we believe it was a part of our reality, something that truly existed right in front of you and there’s no way you can deny it. 

Now that we get the most common understanding about truth, let’s take this article into the higher level about truth. If you are not a heavy thinker type, you might be thinking that it’s useless to understand the deep meaning of truth because Truth is exactly what you see and what you feel, simple and absolute. Well, guess what Sherlock, have you ever thinks that what you see and feel isn’t exactly as you see and feel it? Let me give you an example. Do you remember the time in the kindergarten where you draw the sunrise between two mountain and color the sky with blue and the suns with yellow or orange? Well you are wrong about the color of the suns. The sun is supposed to be white not orange and before you think that I am colorblind or mentally retarded, I can give you the reason why the sun is supposed to be white rather than orange.

The Buddhist also had some interesting way to see the truth and reality. For them reality is emptiness, life and all the content of the universe is just an illusion created by the mind, feeling and perception of human feeling. The surprising things about the way Buddhist see the truth is that it had some correlation with how modern science see the truth and the Buddhist already figure it out thousands years ago.

It’s hard to explain the theory without being sound like I just got escaped from Batman from taking me to Arkham mental asylum but I will try my best to do it.

But if this theory is true, it meant even our existence, our reality and every truth we believe is just a lie just like the Buddhist said, nothing more than a mere illusion. It seems like even the universe is lying to us now and it make the concept of truth we used to know sound like the biggest prank God made for humanity.

            Still, we all had a right to have faith in a truth, no matter how stupid your truth is. Believe it or not, faith can changes the fabric of reality and it is scientifically proved by the way. One example for the power of faith that I could give is the placebo effect where, in a nutshell, if you have faith that you will going to be well soon, even if you are deadly ill, you’ll be healthy for sure. It said that our body had the best medicine that can cure almost every sickness in this world and to get that best medicine go to work is by having faith in your self. It has been tested by a doctor that gives his patient an empty capsule where he lied by saying that it was a super medicine created by a team of super scientist that could heal even superman when he was in fever and it work. The patient healed from the illness by himself. In extreme case, noetic science even shows that human mind had the capabilities to affect solid matter like ice and maybe it can affect something bigger than we can imagine.

            Truth is an important aspect in our life because it defines our world and how we live in it. Every human lives with his/her own believe in truth and that believes creates a reality in his/her life. If you can understand truth meant you understand reality, to understand reality meant you understand the universe, to understand the universe meant you understand yourself.  I think it’s really important to open our insight about truth and share it to others so we can learn more about truth. portal 2 review

Gaming industry this day sure had turned into the race of who can makes the grayest graphics, the bloodiest game and the biggest explosion available in games. I don’t know about you, but i think peoples should had a break and stop playing a games with a rule where what you need to do is aim at something that you don’t like to make it disappear. It is not because i hate generic main stream action or shooting game but because it makes you missed some of the greatest game ever made, which is not a generic action or shooting game.

I do realize that the indonesian gamer prefer a game where complexity is thrown and stay at the dark side of pluto since most of them is casual gamer who play games for simple quick fun but if you want to try something that didn’t involve blowing organic or non-organic things, then i could recommend you to play portal 2.

If you never heard about portal series, then i could assume that you didn’t had internet  or you only used it to open porn site because that game really cause an internet sensation and its still leaves an impact in the internet until now. The game premise is the portal gun, a gun that shoot a linked portal which you can use to solve spacial puzzle and the game also introduce one of the most sarcastically funny robot villainesses in video game, GLaDOS which every line she spokes is hilariously funny. The first portal itself its actually more like an experimental game bundled together in orange box, a pack of  game that contains the half life 2 episode 2 and team fortrees 2. Peoples didn’t expect much from seemly a short bonus game like portal at first but after they played it the games explode with praise and created one of the most famous internet meme, the cake is a lie  and also one of the best song in video game history,  still alive.

To be honest, I didn’t play the first portal even though I heard about it a lot in the internet since I think the game is way too short (about 2-3 hours). But after Valve announces that the sequel for portal will be coming, I am quite intrigued and planning to play it because it is going to be a full retail release so the game will be longer with more content in it and it will be worth my money. Some people quite worried the sequel won’t maintain its original charm through full retail release, but personally I don’t think that portal 2 is worst than portal, because I think portal 2 is one of the best game I ever played.

Portal 2 is the continuation of portal 1 where you played as Chell, which is pretty much the female version of Gordon Freeman from half life series, where she had been kept for maybe a hundred years in stasis after the event in portal 1 as lab experiment in a science facility called aperture science. Chell awakened by the robotic AI called Wheatley who told her that he can get her out the facility with his help and so does the game begin. I can’t tell you more about the story because if I told you more it will be a spoiler and trust me, you want to learn the rest of the story by yourself because the ending of portal 2 is one of the best ending you can have in every video game you ever played.  The story of portal 2 is really shining with a great twist and the writing for every line spoken in this game is downright hilarious and clever. Portal 2 is a rare game that could deliver its every spoken dialogue with an impact to the player. I often laugh out loud when Glados sarcastically insulting me or when  Wheatley spoke about an obvious moronic comment and then there’s also the former aperture science founding father, Cave Johnson who I swear his southern American accent make me laugh every bloody time he spokes.

As you may notice, every voice acting in this game is brilliant and memorable. Ellen Mclain who voiced GLaDOS win a spike video game award in the category "Best Performance by a Human Female" for her voice acting as GLaDOS in Portal 2, unhindered by the ironic fact that GLaDOS isn't actually a human female. Stephen merchant,  a comedian who voiced Wheatley also delivers every single line he spokes with a great british accent that will make you laugh and lets not forget J.K Simmons, a movie actor ( the guy who played Jameson in spiderman the movie) as Cave Johnson who also did a great performance.

The core puzzle in portal 2 didn’t changes much compared to portal 1 in my opinion.You still shoot a blue portal hole that can be linked with the orange portal hole to wall or floor to solve the spacial puzzle but an extra tweak like light bridges, a gel that make you run faster or jump higher, and tractor beam really add some challenges and variety. There’s a great feeling of satisfaction every time you succeed in solving a puzzle and it make you think that you might be the reincarnation of Einstein. The puzzle is really creative and makes you feel really smart without being frustrating at all even thought there might be a time where you got stuck trying to figure how to solve the puzzle before you can move on, but that moment only adds the feeling of satisfaction of solving it for me. Unless your IQ point is below 10 point, i'm sure you won’t had a hard time solving this puzzle.

As for the graphics, valve still use the source engine which is old for today standard because its been used since the day of half life 2, You know, about 9 years old, and the funny things is it’s still look good even for this modern gaming day. The visual style of portal 2 is unique with its huge environment, and bright  puzzle room that it can even makes u forgot that the engine which runs this game is already 9 years old. It is one strong aspect in portal 2, you didn’t need a super computer to play it since My old computer which came from the stone age can still run this game quite well. After all graphics isn’t everything that make’s a game great ( i am looking at you crysis).

The first portal also manage to create one of the greatest song in video games history, still alive from Jonathan  Coulton. The songs is so funny and catchy at the same time and the songs itself now reached 14 million views in youtube which is a rare achievement in video game industry. Sadly, this is where portal 2 didn’t catch up with its predecessor. The end credit songs called want you gone isn’t as great as  still alive  and this is kinda dissapoint me since i expect something better from Jonathan Coulton.. but fortunately, there’s also another songs from the national called exile vilify and robot FTW from Mike Morasky which i personally think is quite good.

Portal 2 also pack with a online cooperative puzzle mode. In this mode, you and your friend can play as one of two robot named atlas and p-body.  The two of you must cooperate each other to solve even bigger puzzle than the single player mode because now there will be 4 portal avaible to mess up with. Cooperation is everything in this mode since if one of you act like dennies the menace, there’s 0% percentage that you can solve the puzzle.  It’s too bad that i could not check this mode since i can’t play this game online in my pc and i find it hard to find someone who wants to play a puzzle game here.

As I said before in my oldest review, I love everything that is unique and portal 2 is definitely in this category. At its core, portal 2 is a puzzle game with a great pacing and dialogue in the story department but I know some of you heard the word ‘puzzle’ in gaming  is as scary as you heard the word ‘shemale’ in real life, but I can guarantee you that this isn’t the cases. Portal 2 puzzles is great and even if you hate every puzzle element in video game this is a great time to try something new. Portal 2 will be one of the best gaming experiences you could had.

          

religion: is it evil ?

Like every internet nerd, I love to watch the youtube. You can find almost anything that can be caught by a camera on that site. As you may know it, Some peoples use youtube to express their art, emotion and also opinion in a subject they related with and that’s one reason why youtube is more colorful than a rainbow in Pee Wee Herman house.

So one day when I’m browsing in youtube, I found a spotlight video that quite provocative just from the title itself.  The video is titled “why I hate religion, but love Jesus”. Geez, Sometime I’m really jealous with the western culture and their freedom to speak about almost anything while here when you speak out loud bout things like that there’s a big chance that an angry mobs from medieval time with pitch fork and torch could come to your house, burn your ass, then slice it to pieces as breakfast for dogs. At first I didn’t watch the video because I am to busy watching another lesbian vid…I meant quantum and relativity theory video.

After 2 days has passed, I found that the video has been watched by 13 million viewers. It makes me wonder how could that video became very popular? So I checked it myself to make sure that there’s no hidden sex scene or LOL cat inside. After I finished watching it, a big question mark pop up right above my head, why did a lot of peoples hates religion?

That video is not the only proof that show how religion is hated by bunch of peoples his day. You can also find articles and blogs that consisted with hatred for religion, which of course shows how the modern human thinks religion is the incarnation of Nazi somehow. There’s even some extremist who think that religion should be banished from the face of the earth so human race could live in peace.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a religious person nor an atheist. You can call my opinion in this subject as ‘out of the box’ since I am not a man who said that religion is the only way human can find salvation in this damned earth but I don’t hate religion like its a hideous brain disease like some atheist does either.

Most peoples who hate religion are someone who thinks that he/she is intellectual and yes, they are also mostly western. They believe in the power of reasoning and logic rather than what they said as zapping flashy magic of religion. They believe that in the past and present religion cause bunch of wars and make its follower failed to see reality with logic and reasoning, instead the religious person is told to believe in illusion of afterlife in heavens and hell. Well, that’s really is a harsh assumption to be fair.

From what I see, the religion that mostly peoples tend to talk about is the Christian and the Muslim. Both of this religion had a big number of followers in this world and contribute lot of influence in the history of mankind. About 30% of human population is Christian while 23% is Muslim. So I will mostly talk about how peoples see this two major religion for the most part.

Everyone in this world sure had its own way to see religion when they speak about it. How peoples define religion is a matter of assumption and perception so how peoples see religions is mostly affected by their own life experience. Some people had a good time with religion, some others don’t.

I myself, used to be a religious person so I know how it feels to be a religious man, it wasn’t makes me evil and stupid like the so called intellectual atheist said. Yes it’s true that the Christian in the past kills a lot of peoples just to keep the church in control and it’s true that the Muslim terrorist had killed thousand of peoples for a reason that only Hitler may agree himself. But the question is it religion that caused all that? Short answer no, and if you think it was religion that caused all of that, the long answer is noooooooooooo you hateful short minded childish retard!

Why did I think that religion isn’t evil?  Take this as an example, do you think that a machete is evil? Of course it wasn’t! machete becomes evil only if Jason Vorhees is the one using it as a tools do decapitate those annoying teenager in Friday the 13^th. Well, maybe Jason with his machete wasn’t so evil since he really decapitate them with sheer of awesomeness but the point that I want to say is machete don’t kill people, its Jason that killed peoples. Religion doesn’t kill peoples, its peoples that kill people.

Religion is a tool that human used to seek for the meaning of life and the truth behind the universe, religion is what peoples used to socialize as a part of their personal identity and religion is what peoples used to seek for power. People have faith in religion because they need it in their life, not because they are stupid, they need it like the way Bob Marley needs his weeds to makes songs and if you just took the weed from bob Marley by force, I’m sure he’ll be nothing more than a man with a creepy dreadlock.

It’s stupid to say that all religion is evil and all of it is a method to turn human into mindless zombie. Although religion has started a lot of war that killed thousands peoples, religion also saves million of peoples in the world to find meanings and happiness around the world. Religions also helps people to teach them about the way of life, helping each other, and probably other good moral stuff that you may also find in the Saturday morning cartoon.

I live in a country where the people are quite religious. Here, the majority of the Indonesian peoples are muslim or at least that’s what written in their id card and contrary to what the western thinks especially that hateful Americans, they didn’t go to the mall or crowded place with a C4 strapped in their body. Also, the woman didn’t always dress like ninja ready to assassinate somebody from the dark.

I’m not going to say that religion is all good and innocent like kindergarten kid with a big cute shiny eyes. Religion can be suck too especially if it were used by bunch of power hungry maniac. At the past Peoples use religion as the justification to did some unnecessary holocaust (thought I think they did a great job in controlling the human populations), that’s a glaring cruel fact that you can’t miss even if you are blind. Also, If you ever watched book of Eli, the whole ‘fallout wannabe’ world is caused by a war triggered by the conflict between religion around the world. All the bible and religious scripture burned down to ash since they think religion is the one to starting the war and that movie could be our future peoples.

There’s even a great line that can sum up my negative opinion about religion. At some point, the good ol’ Garry Oldman said that the bible, or religion as I assume here, is a weapon that we can use to manipulate humans heart. That statement is so true, religion can be a weapon and it have been used for maybe hundred or thousands year to manipulate human to do crazy things, even until now it can still be used as that.

I understand that peoples would do anything they can to protect on what they believe and love, even if it means you had to stick dynamite in your anus so whatever that you believe and love will be save. The same case goes to the religious persons because they will protect their faith no matter what happened. They love their faith like the way you love your mom (assuming your mom didn’t have drinking problem and beat you with her beer bottle).

Whether if you think that religion is good or evil there’s something that you shouldn’t forget. Hatred will breed more hatred and it will bring us to war so if you don’t want your future ended up like fallout and book of eli, start accepting others believes so others will accept what you believe too. I believe that what the worlds need now is an acceptance and appreciation for everything that we think is different because it is a way for humans to evolve into a better living being.

amnesia: the dark descent retroview.

as a gamer, i personaly play for a lot of reason like releasing some inner beast, being a psychophat, or simply to feel some great experience. its an addictive form of art to me, whether its visually or emotionally. there's just a game that just suck you in like a desperate 2$ hot prostitute, i can't just deny the fun on it. most of the game this day will be great and fun if you want to play more and more until you die in an addiction with a mouth full of foam (example: WOW or COD). but there's a game that somehow break that rule, a game that you dont wanna play but it keeps dragging and challenges you to finish it.

enter amnesia: the dark descent, an adventure survival horror game created by an indie developer called frictional games whose only previous title is a cult favorite, penumbra series. both of this game will scare you like a cockroach in front of pesticide can, yet it will challenge your manhood (or girlhood if you are one brave girl) to keep playing it so you know you are not a coward.

the game is about Daniel, a man who woke up in a creepy dark castle alone and he had, well you guessed it, amnesia and can't remember things or two about his past. yeah, yeah, i know amnesia is as common as sunrise in video game plot line but its quite working here so just enjoy it. he wanders around the castle and find a notes from himself in the past that told him to kill a man called Alexander Brennenburg. the note told him that he prefer to forget about what happens so he could go on without a burden to finish his goal. from this point you wander and wander then solve some basic puzzle before getting butchered by "what the F is that" things that hunt you down in the castle.

the story is actually quite interesting and makes you wonder about why he choose to forget about what happened, why did alexander had to be killed, or simply what the hell just chase me back there. there's no cut scene to tell you what happened in the game. maybe its due to the developer limitation so all the story in the game is told by either an audio flashback or a note in game. it had similar feeling like the first time i played resident evil in the psx when you find out about the horror that happens, limited but still get the job done to surprise you.

horror game in this day this, say deadspace or fatal frame, is quite scary but because you had a number of weapons in your pocket you will always feel quite safe, for most part of course . while in amnesia, they stay true to what survival is, being hopeles in the search to survive, that was real survival just like humanity now. the hopelessness of your character will drive your instinct to do whatever you need to survive, even if it was a realy stupid idea that get you killed. you had to run or hide whenever you meet with the monster, there's now way you could kill the monster and that was just downright scary.

one thing that makes this game unique is the inclusion of the sanity meter. the sanity meter will keep dropping if you witness anything scary or stay too long in the dark and makes your day even worse in the castle. you need a source of light from the candle and lantern to keep your sanity in check but the light will make the monster easier to spot you and make you one of his dessert for the dinner. it force you to make a choice whether going crazy in the dark or getting slain by the monster. the lower your sanity is, the harder the game became. daniel will be harder to control and he will see halucination and hear strange voice. as unique as it sounds like, for me it doesn't changes much of the game. most of the changes caused by the sanity meter going low is just a cosmetic like a confusing camera effect and it doesn't affect much of the survival factor.

the star of this game is absolutely the atmosphere of the castle where you will always be scared even if theres nothing to scare you. the atmophere did a great job in making you always be in fear even the sound of your cellphone ring will scare the living soul out of you when you played this game (this happen to me). there's just something uneasy about the stone castle combined with darkness and unexplained voice that came from nowhere.

in conclusion, this game had a great moment and its a very memorable experience, one scary great memorable experience to be precise. there's a moment that will makes you scared to put your foot in the water ever again, there's a disturbing voice and imagery that will haunt your dream, and of course the overall experience will haunt you for a long time. you should play this game in the dark with a headphone to fell the maximum experienc. oh, and dont forgot to stock some pants because you will Sh*t your pants for sure.

Counter strike online review

I always like anything that is strange and out of the box (no friendo, I am not a fan of bondage and tentacle fetish even if they are out of the box and strange) And I also loves a game that just dare to be unique. One developer that I think always deliver its uniqueness very well is valve, the one that bring us the most loveable mute badass nerd ever, Gordon Freeman from half life series and so does games like left 4 dead 1 and 2, portal 2 and the undying counter strike series.

Valve might be well known for their half life series, but the first time I heard their name was in the counter strike. I first played counter strike when I am 12 or 14 years old and oh boy, that game is almost as addictive as heroin because I spent a lot of money playing it in internet café all day. Luckily, I didn’t go as far as prostituting myself to get the money to play it. The games fast, hard, challenging and very punishing for the man who sucks at gaming. But if you are a masochist who likes a challenge to master a game like I do, this game is a gem. After like 10 years, the series still go on with the new counter strike global offensive on its way and it’s proving that people’s still love this games.

 So I am now going to talk about a counter strike game that most people didn’t know exist, especially if you’re not living in the awesome region of Asia like I do. This version of counter strike only playable for the Asians region like Japan, south Korea, China, Malaysia, Singapore, and the country where I lived, Indonesia. The games called counter strike online (CSO), and no I am not stupid. I know that counter strike can be played via online connection but that’s how they really named it. Yeah, It’s kinda retard  to name it that way but who am I to complaint.

So far, the Indonesian CSO is still an infant game in the market. Not many peoples knew about the game and play it. But I think the game had a good prospect in the future and with an intensive update every week the game will expand more and it will be huge.

  CSO itself is a free MMOFPS version of counter strike developed by the south Korean company called Nexon under the surveillance of valve. It had the original gameplay mechanic where you shoot till your enemies death and occasionally plant a bomb or saves hostages. But the game is given with extra tweak like new weapons, new maps, more characters where now you can play as a woman in counter strike (yay for feminism) and more mode like death match, team death match, zombie mode and scenario mode. Some items is locked by default so you will need a virtual cash that you can buy with real money or purchasing it with the game points that you can get by playing the games. The game is filled with contents and they were all great to play.

The new mode like The death match and team death match mode is pretty much a  standard fps mode where all you need to do is kill enemies as much as you can to win and you can respawn right after you were killed. But the new one that is quite addictive to play is the zombie mode. The zombie mode is a polished version of the old counter strike fan made zombie mod where in every round some player will be chosen as the host zombie. The host zombie must spread the infection by attacking the human and turn them into zombie while the rest of the player must kill or survived from the zombie infection. I personally love this mode because it needs a tactic, practice and skill to master this mode. Sure, you can always do the sit, wait and shoot the zombie whenever it is in sight and you will still do quite well with that but if you wanna be the god of zombie mode there’s a lot of tactic and possibility that you may uncover to play in this mode like using melee weapon (which is the most dangerous yet satisfying way to kill zombie), mono y’ mono fight against zombies or hit and run tactic. And finally there is the zombie scenario mode where you must survive against wave of unlimited zombies as long as you can. Some of this scenario mode contains a boss battle again huge zombie that is very hard to kill. This mode is quite hard for the beginner because you will not succeed in your first try. You will be dead, a lot. This mode really emphasizes you to use teamwork, tactic and experience since there’s zero percentage to finish this all by yourself If you wanna be the lone hero. But after you go past the learning phase, you will find this mode really fun if you had a great team to play with. But if all you got is a bunch of A class social A-hole you might consider to buy a new monitor because I’m sure you will throw your monitor after playing the scenario mode with that kind of team.

The game isn’t perfect, sometime there could be a bug problem that could annoy you when you are playing. People flying in the air, guns had no sounds, a zombie that you can’t shoot or people going through the wall like a ghost thingy. But the strange thing is, sometime the bug can be used for your advantage and made the overall experience better. I’m not sure if the developer did that intentionally as a strangely deformed easter egg but as long as it makes the game fun I’ll go with it.

CSO isn’t a gentle game for beginner. The original counter strike itself is known for the unforgiving ‘noobs’ slayer game and I think the developer of CSO continues that tradition in their game. There’s a lot of thing that the newcomer must learnt and know before they can squish the fun out of the game or they might just give up and stop playing. Also, some of the game information might not be in the game. As example, how could I know that some knife can deal a deadly damage against zombie while other didn’t or how could I know that some guns can deal extra damage against zombie? Sure, you can still learn it from the internet but a beginner would find that annoying and confusing.

In conclusion, If you love counter strike and craving for more, this game is for you because it is the good ol’ counter strike that we knew and love with extra steroid injection to make it better. The hardcore fan of counter strike will feels right at home while the newcomer might find a lot of things to do and learn before they find the G-spot of this game.
